With the upcoming release of the SF90 Stradale flagship car, Ferrari decided to make the best of the global pandemic to make sure it has a proper release movie.
With the Monaco Grand Prix canceled, and many people still self-isolating in the tiny Principality, it didn’t take much to have the roads closed for a day. And then Ferrari rolled up with one SF90 Stradale and one Charles Leclerc, their star Formula 1 driver.
Also showing up was a filmmaker known as Claude Lelouch, who released one of the greatest automotive short movies of all time, C’était un rendez-vous.
And then they put out some film cameras, installed Charles into the SF90, and let him loose on the streets of Monaco.

Powered along by a 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with 769 HP and 590 lbs-ft of torque, the engine also gets help from three electric motors that bump the output to 986 HP. As one can see from the first video above, the SF90 doesn’t exactly sit around when you depress the pedal on the right. The only other car in the Ferrari stable from the past decade that matches that power is the Ferrari LaFerrari.
Of course, it also helps that Charles Leclerc is a Monegasque, growing up in the Principality of Monaco, living there now, and knowing its streets intimately. This is shown when he tosses the SF90 around a few corners, including the world-famous Casino Corner (sideways!) and the Grand Hotel Hairpin.

And of course, to film a Ferrari SF90 Stradale, what better camera car can you have than… another SF90 Stradale!

The film, “Le Grande Rendez-Vous A Monaco” is expected to release online in June, 2020.
