CEO Confirms the Car Is Still Coming
The company TVR has a rich motoring history with really killer sports cars. The company was revived a few years back and a new Griffith sports car was showcased in 2017. That car has now been delayed due to issues with the production facility. The car was previously delayed due to emissions standards.
According to Autocar, the CEO stated in a letter to deposit holders that the car would still move forward, though the production of the models has been pushed back.
The progress of the plant that’s being put together in Ebbw Vale, Wales, is taking longer to get to the point where it can start producing cars. The Welsh government bought a portion of the company and that meant that it was subject to European Union rules and regulations. This has caused construction delays.
TVR hired a new CEO recently, Jim Berriman, who has worked at Land Rover and Rolls-Royce to help move things along. It’s unclear at this time when the car will be ready, but on the bright side, the Griffith will use Ford’s 5.0-liter V8. That engine has been certified to meet the stringent EU emissions standards. Cosworth has supplied the 6-speed manual transmission, and Gordon Murray contributed the innovative iStream construction for a lightweight design. If the Griffith is ever built, it should be one amazing sports car.
