The Car will Come in 2022
Peugeot will work with Rebellion Racing for its 2022 Le Man’s attempt. Peugeot’s CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato made an announcement on Twitter. In that announcement, a picture (a rendering) was also shared. It is shown above. The car looks pretty radical, but then that’s what we’d expect from this pair-up.
In his tweet, Peugeot’s CEO said, “Delighted to announce our partnership with @RebellionRacing for our participation with a #hybrid electrified hypercar in the @FIAWEC from 2022. A shared passion for design and performance – the perfect match! Maybe the car will look like this?”
The chances of the car actually looking like the vehicle that was shown on Titter are small, according to Carscoops. The team still has a couple of years before the car will debut, and that means the development for this model is likely not this far along. We assume this is just an early rendering.
When Peugeot returns to racing in 2022, it will be the first time since 2011 that the company has raced in elite endurance racing. The last time it won Le Mans was in 2009. It will be interesting to see how it does in 2022.
