Based on the RX-Vision Concept from 2015
The 2019 FIA Certified Gran Turismo Championships World Finals drew a lot of attention. Lamborghini unveiled its V12 Gran Turismo Concept, but that company wasn’t the only one. Mazda also made an announcement. It would have a GT3-class digital racer called the RX-Vision GT3 Concept.
The digital racer will be very similar to the car that it showed off in 2015, the RX-Vision Concept. With that said, it’s definitely designed to be more aggressive with a wider stance and more impressive aerodynamics. The game’s creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, and Mazda North American design chief, Julien Montousse, were the two men on stage during the announcement.
They didn’t go into specifics about the car, so it is unclear what the vehicle will have. Rumors of the fabled rotary engine that Mazda used to produce returning have circulated for years, but a rotary has been lacking from Mazda’s lineup since the RX-8 was killed off in 2012.
You can check out the full presentation below to see if there’s anything specific that stands out to you. It sounds like Mazda could have a new rotary in the works, judging by the amount of time Montousse talks about it. Until more information comes out, you can just enjoy the image above.
