These Are the Most Beautiful Cars of the Last Decade (2010s)
As we end the decade it is time to look back at the cars that most wowed us from a design perspective.
Car design over the last decade for everyday models cars was driven too much by fear, with too little imagination being exercised. Simple beauty sacrificed to being “different” – but not too different. The result is a bunch of me-too designs and boring cars from a design perspective. Thankfully at the top of the supercar and sportscar market things were different, with some really innovative designs and unique looking cars.
During the twenty-tens engineers had the last word on car design, “form follows function” becoming the mantra at the higher end of the performance car market. Look at the McLaren Senna for example, a car that is built to smash lap records, with every little detail, shape, vent and wing engineered purely from a performance perspective, design be damned. The Senna is a truly remarkable achievement and it makes our list even though it isn’t “beautiful” per se. There is just something special about a car that is produced with nothing but performance in mind that results in such a brutal and aggressive car that you cannot stop staring at it.
That does not mean the 2010’s had no traditionally beautiful cars. Thankfully, the folks at Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo still know a thing or two about design in the traditional sense. Add Lexus and Jaguar to that list too now that I think about it. Speaking of traditional, a special mention to the Rolls-Royce and Bentley teams who continued to take interior design and quality to another level in the last decade, consistently wowing us and showing us that design isn’t just about the outside of a car.
As always it is important to note that we are a site about supercars, exotics and performance cars. We have focused on those kinds of cars for our most beautiful cars of the 2010s. Yes, we love the Mazda 3 and the Mazda MX5 from a design perspective but they aren’t supercars.net material. We included concepts and one off specials on our list this year also.
Enjoy our list of the most beautiful cars of the last decade and hopefully like us they get you thinking about the future. It is clear that we are at the start of a new era, one that will undoubtedly be marked by electric vehicles and eventually fully autonomous cars that totally transform what we consider a beautiful car.

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
The most beautiful car in the last decade
In June 2018, Aston Martin unveiled the DBS Superleggera (Italian for Superlight) — the marque’s V12 flagship grand tourer based on the outgoing DB11 V12 but featuring modifications that sets it apart from the DB11 lineage. The DBS Superleggera combines the best of the modern Aston Martins with a historic name presented in a stunning package. While the DBS shares a design with the all-aluminum DB11, carbon fiber adorns much of the body. The McLaren Senna is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine which produces 789-horsepower @ 7,250 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. With launch control enabled, the rear-driven car is able to achieve 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds, 0-124 mph in 6.8 seconds, and complete the ¼ mile in 9.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 211 mph. The most exciting car announced in 2012 (it is a 2013 model year car) is the F12berlinetta. It is the third-generation Ferrari GT which follows the 599 GTB Fiorano and 550 Maranello. When released, Ferrari called it the fastest Ferrari ever built and cited a lap time around Fiorano of 1’23”. Every aspect of the F12 improves upon the specification of the 599 GTB Fiorano. This includes upgrades to engine power, aerodynamics, fuel consumption, chassis rigidity, safety and luggage access with a new rear hatch. The car is built with an aluminum alloy space frame structure with a body styled jointly by Pininfarina and Ferrari’s own style center. Many elements are taken from the Ferrari FF released at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. A highlight of the car is its 65º V12 engine which produces 750 bhp without the aid of turbochargers or superchargers. This unit uses variable timing and direct gasoline injection for improved efficiency. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch transmission and an active electronic differential. Rolls-Royce Wraith
Elegant design with all the little details nailed
Rolls-Royce’s two-door Wraith is its sportiest offering and one of its best-looking and dramatic pieces. The bottom half of the Wraith is visually heavy and slab-like, with flat vertical surfaces bridging between the car’s shoulder line and the ground and almost no distinctive embellishment. Consider it a solid base, on top of which Rolls-Royce supports the Wraith’s fantastic fastback roofline. Starting at the raked windshield, the roof flows all the way back to the rear end, not resolving in any sort of visible trunk or hatch. The effect is simultaneously striking and classic, emphasized by the Rolls’ massive scale and available two-tone paint finish.

Try 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds makes it the first time a car cracks the under 2-second time (WOW). 0 to 100 mph is over in in 4.2 seconds and the quarter mile is demolished in 8.9 seconds. Musk said the Roadster had a 200 kwh battery pack and a 620-mile range per charge, or over 1,000 kilometers. Again, another record shattered. Or so Musk claims. The vehicle has three motors, one in the front and two in the rear, all-wheel drive and torque steering. Learn more…
Apollo Intense Emozione ‘IE’
Intense is a good name for it
Apollo came out with a teaser video for the Intensa Emozione at October 17, 2017. The car was fully revealed in October 24, 2017. Amongst all the buzz around the Senna and the Project One, this hypercar somehow managed to slip off everyone’s mind. Apollo announced their return with this hypercar which takes it back to the basics! It has a naturally aspirated V12 engine which makes the best sound ever! Apollo wanted to create a car which was all about the connection between the driver and the machine and that’s why it is called as the Intense Emotion. Even Batman would agree his batmobile appears tame in front of this design. Learn more…
Lamborghini Terzo Millennio
We want the future to look like this
A pure concept car, the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio (Italian for Third Millennium) is a futuristic electric concept car introduced by Lamborghini and developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Terzo Millennio was unveiled in November 2017. The Terzo Millennio uses high-capacity supercapacitors in lieu of batteries, due to their more rapid storage and discharge of energy. These supercapacitors have been made to simultaneously capture and release energy to give the car an increase in performance, without having to depend on chemical reactions. Each wheel, the rims of which glow orange, contains an electric motor, so that the amount of torque can be controlled individually, making the car’s stability as good as a modern Formula One car. Aston Martin Vantage
All new Vantage improved in every way
The Aston Martin Vantage was first introduced in 1977, but fell out of production in 1989. Later, in 2005, another model was introduced and took the automotive world by storm, but with the Vantage getting yet another revamp for 2018, can it truly live up to the hype? Visit the Aston Martin website and click through to the beautifully designed page for the New Vantage, and you’ll be greeted by an image of a wolf – an appropriate image, in our opinion. This model comes with a high powered 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, giving the hefty roar that Aston Martin is so famous for. This agile, dynamic car is everything you need for race tracks and country roads alike, and with a stylish yet extremely functional and immersive interior, you won’t find a more comfortable drive. Rimac Concept Two
The most exciting electric car company around
It is an all-electric hypercar called the Concept Two that debuted in 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show. Rimac says it has 1,914-horsepower and a sprint from standstill to 60 mph in an absurd 1.85 seconds. That would make it the quickest accelerating car ever. Rimac says its 120 kWh battery enables over 400 miles of range too so this could be a very practical electric hypercar. Cool features include facial recognition technology that will both unlock and start the car. The company claims that it’ll get to 100 mph in 4.3 seconds and run a quarter mile in 9.1 seconds. The C Two tops out at 258 mph. If this is the future of electric supercar performance then count me in.
McLaren Speedtail
A limited edition Hyper GT
Meet the new Speedtail – an aptly-named addition to McLaren’s Ultimate Series. This limited-edition car, of which only 106 examples will be built, represents McLaren’s unyielding pursuit of top-speed. It will do 250+ mph, has over 1,000+ bhp and costs a whopping $2.2 million. Its silhouette sweeps from the front of the car to the extended rear – a teardrop shape that is the key to its exceptional aerodynamics – with side accents that add an organic edge to its smooth profile. The front rims are enclosed – for maximum top-speed – while the rears remain exposed. The entire care oozes elegance, class, and barely-contained power that the lucky driver will be able to unleash. McLaren has labeled the Speedtail a Hyper GT, which seems fitting given the excess of the car and its abilities. This is a car that’ll take you to 250 mph. Learn more…
Pininfarina Battista
Pininfarina first electric hypercar
The car was publicly unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. New electric hypercar is the first fruit of the contract with Rimac. Rimac is supplying the battery and drivetrain expertise and is also handling a lot of the software and hardware. The car looks like what you’d expect a hypercar from Pininfarina to look like. It’s all sweeping lines that have been aerodynamically designed and beautifully crafted. The Battista may be a brute when it comes to power, but its styling is downright elegant. The teardrop style cockpit, long sloping roof, and rear with its floating taillights is gorgeous. The Battista features an all-electric powertrain. The 120 kWh battery pack comes from Rimac, and that powers the four electric motors that have a combined output of 1,900 hp and 1,696 lb-ft of torque. It can do a 0 to 60 mph sprint in under two seconds and make it to a top speed of 217 mph. The car is also capable of traveling 280 miles per charge. Learn more…
Lamborghini Huracán Evo
Midlife update for the Huracan
The Huracán EVO is the mid-life update for the Huracan platform. Lamborghini did lots of fine tuning, tweaking and improving to make the already great Huracan better. On the outside the Evo gets design changes that add some drama to the Huracan. On the inside the Evo has a new state-of-the-art control system and innovative touch screen easily manage the car’s functions and entertainment system. The V10 now produces 631bhp and 442 lb/ft of torque. That means a power-to-weight ratio of 451 bhp per tonne, good for a top speed of 202 mph, and zero to 62mph in 2.9 seconds. Learn more…
Porsche 911 Speedster
A perfect finale for the 991.1 911 Porsche
It has already been a few months since the ascension of the 992 Porsche 911, yet the swan song for the previous-generation 991 is only just beginning its chorus. Starring the 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster, the grand finale for the now outgone iteration is a celebration of both milestones and achievements. The car is powered by the same 4.0L, naturally aspirated, 9000 rpm unit used in the 991.2 GT3. They’ve also done nothing to disappoint the purists, with the same brilliant 6-speed manual transmission – offered in some 991.2 GT3 examples – mated to this legendary flat-6 boxer engine. Porsche 918 Spyder
Who said hybrids look boring
With styling cues from Porsche’s racing heritage – including top-exit exhaust pipes that improve the efficiency of heat dispersion from the mid-mounted 4.6-litre V8 (and that this writer thinks are one of the best car design elements to appear this side of the turn of the century) – and designed around aerodynamic efficiency and a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, which helps lower the centre of gravity and improve the overall rigidity of the car, the 918 has still somehow managed to emerge with a shape that is distinctly Porsche.
