The Company’s First SUV
We have mixed feelings about the addition of SUVs to some of the world’s most prestigious and previously sports and supercar-focused brands. However, Aston Martin’s DBX does a decent job of bringing Aston’s playbook to the SUV game. The company recently revealed the vehicle. The DBX blends Aston’s styling cues with a powerful engine and the result is a handsome SUV that has an AMG-sourced V8 engine.
The DBX’s engine punches out 542 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The engine also gets a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is the same engine that’s used in the Vantage and DB11 but altered for its use in the SUV. The 0-62 mph sprint happens in 4.5 seconds. The vehicle can run all the way up to 181 mph for its top speed.
Aston spared no expense for the interior of the car. It has one of the best-looking interiors of any luxury SUV. The cabin is awash with luxury materials including beautiful saddle brown leather on the seats, doors, and dash. There’s also real metal trim and some Alcantara in the cabin as well. The model comes with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The vehicle has a curb weight of 4,949 pounds. To manage all that weight, it gets an adaptive triple-volume air suspension that has a 48-volt anti-roll control electronic system. The adaptive dampers are also electronically controlled. This unique system allows the DBX to be raised or lowered depending on the terrain.
The DBX costs $189,900. The vehicle is on sale now, but the first deliveries of the DBX won’t occur until the second quarter of 2020.
