Elon Musk Says the Upcoming Roadster Will Set Nurburgring Production Car Record

That’s Gonna Be a Fast Roadster

The Tesla Model S recently beat Porsche’s Taycan’s time around the Nurburgring. The car’s time was an unofficial time, but it’s clear that the car is capable of it. Shortly after this, Elon Musk said that the upcoming Tesla Roadster would beat the production car record. That record is currently held by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, according to Carscoops.

The Tesla chief executive didn’t come out and say this outright, but he instead tweeted a response to a person who asked if the new Roadster would beat the time set by the Lamborghini. Musk said simply, “Absolutely.”

The roadster was unveiled two years ago as a prototype. The production version of the car is yet to be out. The powertrain for that car will be made of three motors and a 200 kWh battery pack. The car is supposed to be able to do a 0-60 mph run in just 1.9 seconds and hit 100 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

With performance numbers like that, we could see the car set a new record. At the very least, the car will be an extremely fast one around the Green Hell. With that said, there are several new production hypercars and supercar out there that will be trying for that record, too. It’ll be interesting to see who ends up on top.
