One of Only Two in the World
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the best places ever to see amazing supercars, hypercars, and racecars. It’s also a place for automakers to celebrate past models, which is exactly what Porsche did with the 917. One of the cars that appeared is the Porsche 917K, which is one of only two models in the world.
This amazing road-legal version of the car was captured by 19Bozzy92 and posted to YouTube for all of your viewing and listening enjoyment. The car was owned by Count Gregorio Rossi di Montelera, heir to the Martini and Rossi fortune. He bought the vehicle after Porsche was finished with it and went through the long and arduous process of making it road legal.
This consisted of updating the exhaust, removing the rear fin, and making some other minor modifications. Then the car was painted silver and the interior reupholstered. Getting it registered was not easy, but eventually, a way was found. Today it’s one of only two cars in the world like it. You can hear its 4.5-liter flat-12 engine roar in the video below.
