Retro Looks, Modern Powertrain
Hispano Suiza recently debuted its Carmen supercar at the Geneva Motor Show. The car was inspired by the 1938 Hispano Suiza H6C Dubonnet Xenia. The Carmen, of course, is a modern interpretation of that car with a mid-engine layout and an extremely powerful all-electric powertrain.
The car features some sleek curves, some three-dimensional taillights, and a massive diffuser. The company didn’t release any interior pictures, but it did say that the Carmen comes with carbon composite seats, leather and Alcantara upholstery, and real wood trim. The company will also equip the car with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The car is quite modern under the skin as well. It features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and an electric powertrain. It has an 80 kWh battery at the moment, but it should get a 105 kWh battery later on. It’s powered by two electric motors at the rear wheels that produce a seriously impressive 1,005 hp. That propels the car from 0 to 62 mph in under three seconds. It also gives the Carmen an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The company plans to make only 19 models and the car will cost $1.7 million. Hispano Suiza is currently accepting orders. If the retro-futuristic thing is your style, and you have plenty of money to spend, you should think about picking one up.
