That’s a Good-Looking Rear End
We recently reported on the Hispano Suiza Cars upcoming Carmen all-electric coupe. The company continues to tease new shots of it ahead of the vehicle’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The car appears to be just as curvaceous and amazing as the Hispano Suizas of old.
The Carmen will be a 1,005 hp electric coupe with a 0 to 62 mph time of around 3 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph. When it debuts, the car will get an 80 kWh battery pack. However, Carscoops reports that by the time the vehicle hits production, the company may have a larger 105 kWh battery pack ready for use. That would put its range somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 miles per charge.
The car will feature a carbon monocoque chassis and this helps keep it light, which is extremely important both for range and performance. As is with the Hispano Suizas of old, the car will be extremely well-appointed with all the luxury trimmings you’d expect in a modern luxury vehicle.
It’d better be pretty impressive, too, because the company set the price at $1.7 million. For that kind of money, Hispano Suiza recognizes the need to make the car special, and it will produce only 19 units.
In an interesting twist, we recently reported on another car from a company bearing the Hispano Suiza name. Carscoops reports there are actually two different companies claiming the rights to that name. Both will debut cars at the Geneva Motor Show. The one showing the Carmen is actually called Hispano Suiza Cars, whereas the other debuting the Maguari HS1 GTC is called Hispano Suiza Manufaktur. It could make for an awkward show reveal for both companies.
