Audi also brought in another big surprise for everyone at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show by unveiling the 2018 RS4 Avant.
Now equipped with a much powerful 2.9-liter TFSI biturbo V6 engine that can pump out 450 PS (444 hp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, the new all-wheel drive Audi RS4 Avant with its tweaked 8-speed automatic transmission can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (25o kph) but you can increase it to 175 mph (280 kph) if you opt for the RS Dynamic Package.
The new RS4 Avant is 0.1 sec faster than its main rival, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate, which happens to be equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine and a 7-speed gearbox.
Despite impressive results from its output and performance, the 2018 Audi Rs4 Avant still manages to return an average fuel consumption of 8.8 l/100 km (32.1 mpg UK / 26.73 mpg US), and emits only 199 g/km of CO2, giving it a 17 percent increase in efficiency gain as compared to the outgoing model. This new super wagon also tips the scales at 1,790 kg (3,946 lbs), making it lighter than its predecessor.
The 2018 Audi RS4 Avant has a standard sport suspension that is 7 mm (o.3 in) lower than the basic A4 model also with sport suspension. You can also equipped the car with an optional Dynamic Ride Control as well as ceramic brakes and RS-specific dynamic steering. Drivers can now also choose their own driving experience by using the standard dynamic handling system Audi Drive Select.
Audi’s engineered borrowed inspiration from the 90 Quattro IMSA GTO when they were drawing the design of the newest RS4 Avant. It has the typical honeycomb structure in the massive air inlets, a specific singleframe grille, and 30mm (1.2in) wider wheel arches than the standard A4 Avant.
At the rear is where you can find an RS diffuser insert, oval tailpipes and a roof edge spoiler. The 19 inch or 20-inch optional wheels and a Nogaro Blue exterior finish (the color that which the first-gen Avant was launched), makes the car look good from the outside.
Getting inside, you will find sports seats with optional honeycomb pattern, a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel that’s completely wrapped in leather, and RS-specific displays in the Audi Virtual Cockpit. You will also find a head-up display which should tell you about G-forces, tire pressures, and torque. The new RS4 Avant also gets the RS emblem on different surfaces. You can also have the emblem customized to suit your taste, through Audi’s Exclusive program.
Audi will begin to accept orders for the new RS4 Avant by this fall, with prices starting from €79,800 ($95,674) in Germany, and £61,625 ($81,235) in the United Kingdom.
