Ruf has a great history of reimagining classic Porsches. They were the ones who created the iconic CTR “Yellow Bird” with 450hp and a top speed of 211mph. It’s been 30 years since the “Yellow Bird” was first introduced and now Ruf is looking to introduce a new all-carbon fiber on its own with an astonishing 700 horsepower and a top speed of 225 mph.
The 2017 CTR does have a striking similarity to the original CTR when it comes to appearance. But this time around, this CTR monster features an all-carbon fiber body which is completely bespoke and has no components that resembles with any Porsche.
The new CTR gets a twin-turbo 3.6-liter, water-cooled Mezger engine that produces 700 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque. The power which goes to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. As the car weighs 2640 lbs., it can sprint from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds and reach speeds of 225 mph.
The 2017 Ruf CTR features Ruf five-spoke wheels, and the retro theme continues on the interior with round-face gauges that and a three-spoke steering wheel that reference the original Yellow Bird.
There will only be 30 units of the 2017 Ruf CTR available and each one of them costs north of $793,000. According to Road and Track, Ruf is recognized as an automaker by both the NHTSA and EPA, so there is a possibility that a couple of new CTR will land here in the States.
