Koenigsegg just unveiled a new hybrid Regera in production spec at their 2017 Geneva Motor Show booth. If you can still remember the ‘Candy Apple Red’ Regera introduced by the Swedish hypercar manufacturer last year, this time around they are treating us to two hybrid Regeras, a red and a green carbon fiber one!
The Koenigsegg Regera is going to be the company’s primary focus from now on that the Agera line is nearing the end of its production. In fact, when you think about it, Koenigsegg has done a really good job in creating a worthy successor for their Agera, albeit this time a hybrid setup. And although hybrid cars are marginally heavy, the Koenigsegg still managed to keep the weight of the new Regera low at just 1,628 kg.
This hand-built hypercar is not your typical plug-in play device. And if you thought that the Koenigseg One:1 was already an achievement of its own, the new Regera’s powertrain is capable of producing more than 1MW of power. The new powertrain entails the powerful 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 which produces 1100 horsepower and 1250 Nm of torque combined with three electric motors that also produces a combined 700hp and 900 Nm of torque. Combined the together and you now have a total power output of 1500hp (1.11 MW) and over 2,000 Nm of torque.
The Koenigsegg Regera is capable of reaching 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds, 150 km/h to 250 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, and 0-400 km/h in under 20 seconds. The Regera can reach top speeds between the 400 km/h and 500 km/h mark although this is still not official. But once you see this new hybrid car up close and personal, you can definitely say that this is the ultimate beast!
