Lamborghini Huracan RWD (580-2)

Lamborghini has revealed the rear-wheel drive version of their Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, the Huracán RWD. The Huracán RWD gives us a more engaging driving experience that comes from the combination of the lifestyle appeal of a convertible and the pure on-road performance of the rear-wheel drive Huracán Spyder.

Lamborghini cars always come with all-wheel drive and is followed a by rear-wheel drive version after one year. The all-wheel drive Huracán Spyder is still faster than its rear-wheel drive version. That extra 30hp and the fact that it is an all-wheel drive car is what makes the Huracán Spyder better when it comes to speed. The new RWD version features the same naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine from the Audi R8 V10. The engine in the Huracán Spyder RWD gives out 580 hp (426 kW) and a max torque of 540 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This is a bit lower than its all-wheel drive version which gives out 610 hp and 560 Nm of peak torque. The difference in output is also confirmed by the performance of both versions on the road.

The all-wheel drive Huracán Spyder can go 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds while the RWD version does it in 3.6 seconds. The standard Huracán Spyder has a top speed of 324 km/h whereas the RWD version only has 319 km/h. The difference in speed is really not noticeable when you are on the road. In fact, the improved driver engagement in the RWD more than makes up for the difference in performance.

When it comes to appearance, it’s not that hard to distinguish the two versions. The RWD version can be easily identified from its all-wheel drive version thanks to its redesigned front and rear apron. The RWD version comes with a more aggressive design on both ends of the car. The Huracán Spyder was noted for its soft top that opens and closes in just 17 seconds once the car reaches 50/kmh. There is also the Lamborghini’s very own infotainment system with 12.3-inch TFT screen. The Huracán Spyder RWD, on the other hand, comes with exclusive 19-inch Kari wheels shod with Pirelli Pzero tires.

The Huracán Spyder RWD is further made different from its four-wheel drive version due to the weight distribution. The RWD version weight distribution is 40% at the front and 60% at the rear. This reduces the inertia on front axle unlike on the standard Spyder. New modern technologies that are specifically fine-tuned for the Huracán Spyder RWD are also introduced here. The Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) is still here, the Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) is also here as well as an improved Huracan sensor system that is now placed in the center of gravity of the car, to better trace all of its 3D movements.

The Huracán Spyder RWD comes with an aluminum and carbon-fiber based chassis to ensure the car’s stability and the installment of the springs. It also has an anti-rollbar placed on its double-wishbone suspension. Thanks to all these new features the Huracán Spyder RWD certainly delivers a dynamic driving experience. The RWD version will be featured at this year’s LA Auto Show and will soon be released this January 2017.
