For any keen classic or sports car fan, JD Classics is a dream come true with many a historical automotive treasure hidden within the elusive green walls of this famous car complex. Buried away within the heart of Essex, UK, JD Classics has five showrooms that hold some of the world’s most beautifully restored and historically steeped classic cars that have appeared at many of the world’s most prestigious car events. The competition department also houses many famous racecars in various stages of preparation. After a year of truly successful breakfast mornings in 2011, JD Classics is welcoming all automobile junkies to its 2012 mornings, and have announced three 2012 dates for their popular “Breakfast at JD’s” Sunday Open Mornings.
The first of these dates is Sunday March 25, when Win Percy and Norman Dewis are expected. Win Percy was a member of Tom Walkinshaw’s very successful TWR team that took Jaguar back to the top of sports car racing. Percy has raced at many of the world’s premier events, and won races at many circuits including the daunting Bathurst 1000. Dewis was Jaguar’s chief test and development driver during the 1950s and 1960s and now, in his 90s, serves as an ambassador for the Jaguar brand.
Two more mornings are planned for Sunday June 3 and Sunday October 28. Doors will open at approximately 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. where visitors will be able to explore JD’s five showrooms as well as the behind-the-scenes work areas that go into maintaining and restoring these wonderful treasures—including the competition department, service workshop, bodyshop and the engine build and machine shops. There will also be several of their staff on hand to answer any questions you may have.
JD’s will, of course, look after your breakfast needs as well, and provide refreshments on the premises. Because these mornings have become so popular and always get a high number of visitors you’re asked to book if you’re in a group of five or more cars. Simply call Business Manager Richard Graylen on +44 (0)1621 879579 to secure your place for one of the JD Classics special breakfasts in 2012.
