McLaren MSO HS
The hits keep coming for the team at McLaren. This time it is the McLaren Special Operations guys who have created this new machine. Now McLaren has released details on the 679-horsepower MSO HS (for High Sport) and it’s ridiculous. For context, the McLaren MSO HS sits squarely between the McLaren 675LT and the mighty McLaren P1.
The MSO HS is based on the McLaren 650S and is limited to just 25 example. Of course they’re already sold out so don’t bother walking down to local McLaren dealer with deposit in-hand.
The engine is the familiar 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant with 679 horsepower (an increase of 13hp over the 675LT) and torque unchanged at 516 pound-feet.
The biggest differences however appear in the body. The roof, hood, front bumper, and wing – which is inspired by the McLaren P1 GTR – are all made out of carbon fiber. McLaren claims the MSO HS makes 485 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. Our favorite detail is the very familiar McLaren F1 roof air-scoop.
Performance is expected to be out of this world (like the rest of the McLaren lineup). We expect it will match up quite closely with the 675LT on both road and track. To help the brave and daring owners that plan to take the car to the track, the MSO HS comes with McLaren Track Telemetry. The feature, which is also found on the 675LT, includes a host of sensors and three cameras to provide data to help the driver go even quicker.
Since MSO customizes each of the supercars to an owner’s specifications, pricing hasn’t been released, and it’s kind of irrelevant since you can’t buy one anymore. For the lucky few who already have deposits, the MSO HS is an extremely limited run, more powerful, customizable, carbon fiber filled rocket. Lucky bastards.
