1966 Aston Martin Short Chassis Volante
As an interim model between the DB5 and Db6, the Short Chassis Volante was one of the rarest Aston Martins. It used a short DB5 chassis but featured the front end from the DB6 with a DB5 tail. Futhermore, it was the first Aston Martin to adopt the Volante term which would be used for many subsequent convertibles.
Since it was based on the DB5 chassis, it used the DB5 engine and suspension.
The car is easily identified from the rear-end with a DB5 design which has no rear Kamm tail or spoiler, but uses the split bumper design from the DB6.
Only 37 examples of the Short Chassis Volante were built until the model was replaced by the DB6 Volante
