­­The Quail Motorsports Gathering (2012) – Quick Recap

The 10th annual The Quail—A Motorsports Gathering, proved another resounding success with a sellout crowd of 3,000 guests in attendance to view 180 specially selected automobiles and motorcycles.

This year, The Quail paid tribute to the 50th  anniversary of Iso Automobili, with Piero Rivolta, author, former managing director and designer of Iso Rivolta, sharing the rich heritage of the Italian automobile manufacturer as part of The Quail’s popular Fireside Chat series. Rivolta’s own 1968 Iso Rivolta GT led an impressive collection of 27 Iso motorcars in celebration of the automaker’s 50th anniversary.

Among the many “Rolex Circle of Champ-ions” award winners, the 1930 Bentley 4 1/2 Liter owned by the Robert M. Lee Trust in Nevada was awarded “Best of Show.” Other notable Rolex Circle of Champions winners included the 1958 Fiat Viotti 750 Sport of Donald Osborne and Frank Garofolo (FIVA Award), the 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Coupe of Bob and Ellen Cole (Pre-War Alfa Romeo), the 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO of Gwen and Tom Price (The Great Ferraris) and the 1947 Ferrari 159S 002C of James M. Glickenhaus (Spirit of The Quail Award).
