1963 Ford Galaxie 500 Boxtop
In March of 1963 Soerens Ford of Milwaukee, Wisconsin received an order for what would be the most unique Galaxie that had ever been produced. Reading from the window sticker the option list reads as follows; Galaxie 500, Raven Black in Color with a 427 8V High Performance Engine, Four speed transmission, AM FM Radio, Two speed electric wipers, seatbelts, remote control mirror and
Faun beige interior.
The boxtop is extremely rare in comparison to the fastback 427 model as they were the most prevalent with more than 2,000 produced, compared to the 50 boxtops. This example is one of only half a dozen know to exist and is undoubtledly the most original in existence.
Who would ever dream that 46 years later( in 2009 )that this car would best exemplify the true meaning of what a “Survivor” really is. From the original well cared for Raven Black paint to the protective seat covers that are still remaining on the absolutely exquisite interior . If one would desire to own a truly original 427 Ford Galaxie, this is the one! It sold at Mecum’s St. Charles Auction for $42,500 USD.
