1966→1969 Fiat Dino 2000 Spider

1966→1969 Fiat Dino 2000 Spider

In partnership with Ferrari, Fiat released their own version of a Dino in 1967. At the time Fiat was more capable of producing the small roadster car in larger numbers which satisfied FIA homologation rules.

The engine was developed by Aurelio Lampredi initially in 1987cc size which was later upgraded to 2400cc. Both engines were produced by Fiat at Turin including those later used by Ferrari.

Pininfarina was responsible to styling the Spider while Bertone styled the slightly longer Coupe

Just 1133 Dino 2000 Spiders were made until the larger engine was fitted.

Auction Sales History

1966→1969 Fiat Dino 2000 Spider

1967 FIAT Dino Spyder 000190 – sold for €143,700. One owner from 1968 to 2014. Coachwork by Carrozzeria Pininfarina. This delightful early Fiat Dino Spider has the lightweight all-aluminium 2.0-litre engine (the later 2.4-litre engines had cast-iron blocks). The Dino was delivered new in 1968 via the FIAT dealer in Turin to its first private owner (still its only registered owner) who kept the car until 2014. The car has always been well maintained and kept garaged, and when the owner’s daughter got married in 2009 it was partially restored, receiving a fresh coat of paint in its original red, a new hood and a general service. It is believed that no welding was found necessary at that time, and that only some 500 kilometres have been driven since this refurbishment. Representing a rare opportunity to acquire what is effectively a ‘one owner’ FIAT Dino possessing exceptional provenance, the car is offered with its original old-style Italian libretto and the original service book. Auction Source: 2015 Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais
