1935 Fiat Balilla Sport Spider 508 S Coppa d’Oro Corsa sold for $121,000. This example is one of these rare Coppa d’Oro models, and with its period Siata-modified engine, an even more significant example. Delivering 43 hp, in contrast with the standard 36 hp, and an unladen weight of only 1,377 lbs., it is a delight to drive – quick, agile and responsive.

This sporty Fiat has been the subject of an exacting cosmetic and mechanical restoration that has been recognized at concours and proven on rallies. The restorative work was carried out in Brescia, Italy and, at the completion of the three-year project, was listed with the Registro Fiat Italiano which granted the car its coveted Gold Plate Certificato di Omologazione. Among the laurels it has claimed in the US are Best in Class at the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance and Best of Marque at Concorso Italiano in 2006. Auction Source: 2011 Scottsdale Auction by Gooding & Company
