1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spéciale
At their 2009 Retromobile Auction, Articule sold this Daytona Spéciale show that was unveiled at the 1969 Paris Motor Show. The description was as follows:
At Ferrari’s Angelo Amadesi is the ”living memory” for the historic cars and he confirmed the originality and full history of this superb one-off model.
A customer of Milano gave an order to Ferrari for a very special car he wanted quite different from the other Daytonas.
In 1969 the factory asked Pininfarina to work on a specially strengthened chassis and a Scaglietti body without side and rear glasses. Pininfarina made some modifications to the body and delivered the car to its first owner. It is worth noting that it was the last order for a special body honoured by the great coachbuilder
The body was finished in ”blu tourbillon” 2448607 with parchment interior. The car was fitted with a radio and air-conditioned. Sold by the well-known milanese dealer Crepaldi to its firts owner, the car was sent eventually to the USA then to Japan where it was for sale at Seaside Motors’ in 1978. It was bought by Yoshi ito Matsuda in 1979 and put on display in his famous collection/museum ”Ferrari Museum of Art”. The cas went back to europe at GTC who sold it to its current owner. In June 2007 it was selected by the factory to celebrate the marque’s anniversary. Its owner and a well experienced Ferrari enthusiast have appreciated the perfect stiffness of the chassis and the engine power in the region of 400 bhp. Their opinion can be judged as authoritative since these two connoisseurs have both already owned and driven about 40 Daytonas.
The car is still ”blu tourbillon” with the original leatherwork. New tyres and a stainless steel exhaust system are the only non original features. The car is air conditioned.
This is an exceptional one-off car in original condition with a low mileage since new. “

1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Specialé –
The car is offered with tool and a file that includes a complete report compiled by Ferrari historian, Marcel Massini, archival photos, correspondence with the Matsuda Collection, copies of the original build sheets and a copy of the original Pininfarina design study created especially for this car.
This gran turismo not only represents the height of 1960s style, it is one of the most memorable Ferraris built during an era where automotive individuality was becoming increasingly scarce and the art of coachbuilding a thing of the past. A very special and genuine Ferrari, this Daytona Specialé has an inviting patina, a fascinating history and a short list of owners who have sought to preserve this remarkable piece of history for future generations.
