2013 Hamann Mirr6r
A sense of tradition has never been so titillating. HAMANN Motorsport dresses the BMW M6 into an all-embracing racing suit. The manufacturer from Laupheim, Germany, practices exactly what has been a guarantee of success in its 27-year history. A dynamic metamorphosis of an already racy bimmer.
The latest offspring of this tradition is the BMW M6 (Type F13) that was transformed into a racing machine. The front spoiler with the elegant dual wind splitter, and the well thought-through design are guarantee for the optimum output at any speed. The new bonnet – which is entirely made of visible carbon fibre – leaves no doubt about the HAMANN motorsport genes. It unites premium material strength with a total weight of merely 9.5 kilograms.
The wings place special emphasis on the looks of the HAMANN Mirr6r. Compared to the production car, they have grown by 40 mm in width and provide a much wider stance to the coupé. The lines are seamless and flow from here across the side skirts with its air intakes to the rear spoiler, including the integrated carbon Venturi diffuser. Together with the carbon rear spoiler, the diffuser ensures optimal output power.
And what’s more, the diffuser incorporates two stainless steel tailpipes on the left- and right-hand side of the HAMANN sports exhaust system. Even while the throttle is closed, this system produces a pleasant sporty sound and flow data. But you open the throttle with a push of a button, and the system opens up a completely new world – a brute sound as well as beastly power. The engineers in Laupheim are still tweaking with the engine’s performance and it won’t be long until they come up with something special.
In addition to the aerodynamic design, the sport springs can bring the suspension up to 35 mm closer to the tarmac, and the ultra-light forged rims “Edition Race” or “Unique Forged Formula”, ensure optimum road holding.
The tyre selection was based on the cooperation between HAMANN and the tyre specialist Vredestein. The challenge was to find the perfect tyre that always acts the same, even at speeds 300 km/h and more. The specifications included top-notch data for grip, steering precision, and cornering ability. The Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R meets all those requirements. That’s why the front 265/30 ZR 21 and rear 305/25 ZR 21 tyres carry the HAMANN logo on their walls.
When it comes to creating contact with the driver, HAMANN refined the cockpit with numerous leather Alcantara applications. Furthermore, the pedals and the foot rest –all made of aluminium – provide the sporty accent. Upon request, the designer from Laupheim adds illuminated trims in chrome and many other materials.
There is a reason why the word “Motorsport” is part of the HAMANN name. Its career started 27 years ago on the race track. The commitment to top performance, even under extreme conditions, has always been in the company’s maxim, and this is exactly what the company proves with the “Mirr6r” M6.
