2008 Courage-Oreca LC70
After purchasing the Courage in 2007, Oreca comprehensively upgraded the chassis in 2008, enough to call it their own design. It included the Judd V10 engine, new bodywork and a new suspension.
The new 2008 model featured new steering, cooling system, suspension with new uprights retaining the mounting points to avoid crash tests. Along with fitting a traction control system, this new suspension greatly improved cornering grip.
Oreca fitted the LC70 with a Judd GV5.5 72º V10 in the place o the AER units Courage used in the 2008 season.
At the car’s official debut at at the 2008 Barcelona 1000kms, one of the LC70s featured all-new bodywork. The new package was a second faster around the circuit but was still off pace with front-running diesel cars. Again in 2009, the factory works cars were again upgraded with circular front brake ducts.
