2002 Citroën C-Airdream Concept
‘Long, sleek and aerodynamic’ is the way Citroen describes the C-Airdream, thier newest concept. Its lines are reminiscent of the contemporary DS and SM, having a long wheel base and pronounced presence.
Inside the C-Airdream, Citroen expands their language of styling. Internally lit components and rough leathers bring the cockpit to life. The two front seats feature organic styling and the theme is extended to the armrests. At the center of attention is the white steering wheel which contrasts sharply to dashboard and it’s black controls.
The roof itself plays a major role in the C-Airdream’s strong interior space. The vast roof starts at a highly raked windscreen and ends sharply at the rear of the car. The entire surface is made of glass, opening the interior to the outside.
Outside, the exterior of the car is shaped by Brit Mark Lloyd. The styling doesn’t hide it’s 2+2 interior or long wheel base. To compensate, a long front overhang and chopped rear end appeal to the sporting aesthetic. The front-end sports flowing lines which reach the entirety of the car. At the rear, these lines converge, creating prominent rear wings.
A concept car like the C-Airdream is too easy overlooked by the enthusiast or journalist. This car provides a new look into what the coupe platform may become: a sports car with a large, open interior space.
