2001 Brabus S 5.8
Based on the Mercedes-Benz CL500. The BRABUS 5.8 powerplant features a custom crankshaft and larger pistons, increasing displacement to 5,729 ccm
The cylinder heads undergo flow optimization and are fitted with custom camshafts.
A stainless steel high-performance exhaust system with complex metal catalysts and reprogrammed engine electronics complete the engine conversion.
The engine is also a model of environmental compatibility. In mandatory emission testing conducted by the German Vehicle Inspection Agency’s Institute for Motor Vehicle Technology in Essen the tuned 400 hp / 294 kW eight-cylinder engine achieved the highest ratings in all categories, meeting the Euro IV standards that do not even go into effect until 2005. Emissions were up to 56 percent lower than the maximum allowable limits. The BRABUS CL 5.8 also complies with the tough California limits for Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEV).
Luxurious and individual interiors are another BRABUS specialty. The range of available customizations includes chrome treadplates, ergonomically shaped airbag safety steering wheels and a fully leather interior handcrafted from especially soft yet durable BRABUS mastik leather.
