1959 Chevrolet Corvette
In motorsport the Corvette was a serious contender thanks to the fuel-injected V8 engine. It won the 1959 SCCA B-Production championship that year.
Demanding even more performance, several people including Gary Laughlin, Jim Hall and Carroll Shelby wanted to replace the Fiberglass body with a lightweight aluminum counterpart and three such cars werer made by Scaglietti.
