2003 ABT S4 Avant
For the first time, Abt Sportsline’s customers not only benefit from the technical know-how of the successful racing team, but also recieve the winningest colours as shown by this S4. Abt’s S4 Avant, also known as the S4 Plus, is a sportscar with 344 bhp (253 kW) and brutal 302 ft lbs (410 Nm) torque. It is painted in the design of the current DTM-cars of Christian Abt and the 2002 champion Laurent Aiello.
The opponents in DTM know the marked rear of the Abt-Audi TT-R especially well. After sensationally winning the title in 2002, the Abt team managed to break the Mercedes-Benz serial victories. From now on the black-yellow paint scheme will be seen more often on Germany’s motorways with an unmistakable origin from Abt of Kempten.
A complete carbon package emphasizes the inherently muscular form of the Audi S4. The frontspoiler lip and front grill, with side skirts running up to the rear skirt, underline the aggressive design. The discreetly integrated rear wing rounds off the program.
Even the engine compartment, which houses the 344 bhp (253 kW) engine, has been equipped with a carbon cover. A double twin-pipe rear muffler ensures the correct sound aswell.
The Abt S4 suspension and chassis tuning were personally determined by Christian Abt. As a current DTM-race driver and long-term Audi test driver, Christian possesses the skill of finding the most exact, as well as a comfortable state of tune for the adjustable suspension.
To restrain the power, espeically with the removal of the speed limitation, the S4 is equipped with Abt sport brake system and flexible steel brake lines.
Abt Sportsline has entered a new field regarding the choice of the wheels. Up to now the success models from Abt were kept in discreet silver, but now colour comes into play with the Abt S4: Matching the sporty-aggressive body, the large ninteen inch wheels of the SP-series are kept in the vehicle colour and are offered with ContiSportContact-tyres. Details such as the door pins and Abt floor mat sets continue the theme in the interior.
