Fangio’s Farewell Artwork
This piece was created by mixed media artist Jonathan Carter to commemorate Maserati’s centennial. The painting depicts Juan Manuel Fangio in the Maserati 250F during the 1958 French GP at Reims. It was to be the final appearance for the Argentinian legend who had become World Champion five times, a mark that stood for 46 years until surpassed by Michael Schumacher. The iconic Maserati itself competed in 46 Formula One championship races, claiming eight wins between 1954 and 1960.
Artist Carter has gained recognition among peers and collectors for bringing his unconventional, illustrative style to the motorsport genre, along with a strong narrative feel. His portraits of the legendary Formula One racing drivers are especially sought-after.
