2014 24H Nürburgring – 42nd Running
We have said it before: the 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring is our favorite endurance race of them all.
This year Audi supported an armada of capable teams which resulted in the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra of Christopher Haase, Christian Mamerow, René Rast and Markus Winkelhock taking first overall.
Audi was clearly at their limit, as behind the winning car were two very capable Mercedes-Benz SLSs, the Falcon Porsche, Aston Martin’s fastest car and the Team Schubert BMW. The next Audi was back down in 9th position.
This victory let Audi proclaim that they’ve won the two major 24-hour endurance races within just seven calendar days.
The winning team achieved a record 4,035.102 kilometres which was possible due to faultless 8-lap stints which Phoenix Racing completed like German clockwork.
