Road America again hosted the Weather Tech International Challenge, a midsummer staple of the vintage racing scene. With well over 400 entries, the twelve racing classes featured full fields in each one. This year, the Formula Ford was the featured marque, celebrating 55 years of training aspiring racers all the while providing close competition.
An additional attraction, the Ragtime Racers “Exhibition of Speed,” showcased Pre World War 1 competition vehicles with drivers in period garb. While not on track, the cars were housed in a tent outfitted with a diorama simulating a 100 year old race shop complete with vintage tools and signage.

Gp. 1 – Joel Quadracci in his 2013 Oreca 03 leads the Crawford of Herb Thomas through turn 12. Quadracci would finish 2nd overall in Sunday’s Feature Race.
Gp 2 – Nicholas Clemence in his 1960 Porsche 356B leads a group of competitors through turn 14 during the start of their Feature Race.
Gp 2 – Brian Davis in his 1962 Elva Courier leads George Balbach’s Porsche during a wet Feature Race. They would finish in this order, 1st and 2nd.
Gp 2 – Derek Drinkwater brought his 1950 Cadillac 61 (Le Monstre). Here he negotiates turn 12.
Gp 2 – Austin Schmitt’s 1972 Alfa Romeo Spider leads Jamie Jackson’s Porsche and Don Ondrejack’s Honda during Sunday’s damp Feature Race. They would finish in reverse order, Ondrejack in 3rd, Jackson in 4th and Schmitt in 5th.
Gp 2 – Alan Tosler’s 1964 MGB is stalked by the Mazda of Geoffrey Koteles and the Honda of Josh Helm during Sunday’s Group 2 Feature Race.
Gp 2 – Bob Wagner brought his 1960 Austin Healey 3000. Here he leads the Porsche of Frank Boucher through turn 12.

Gp 6 – Steven Lisa’s 1973 DeTomaso Pantera leads the Porsche of Pat Womack through turn 14 during Sunday’s Group 6 Feature Race.
Gp 6 – Chris MacAllister charges toward turn 13 in his 1964 FIA AC Cobra.
Gp 6 – Rob May in his 1970 Dodge Challenger accelerates toward turn 13.
Gp 6 – Rick Mooney in his 1968 Corvette leads fellow ‘vettes through turn 12 during Qualifying.
Gp 6 – Todd Treffert in his 1975 Porsche 911 RSR ‘Baby Turbo’ leads the Porsche of Fritz Seidel through turn 14 during the Group 6 Feature Race. Treffert would win this event with Seidel 3rd.
Gp 6 – Jason Woita in his 1963 Corvette leads the Corvette of Nick Groose through turn 12 during Saturday’s Qualifying.
