2020 BMW M8 Laps Willow Springs Raceway Wicked Fast

Don’t Blink

The BMW M8 Competition is a big burly Bavarian, but it still can handle things pretty good for a somewhat portly GT car. Recently MotorTrend took the 2020 M8 Competition to Willow Springs Raceway to test the car’s prowess on the sweeping corners of the racetrack.

As you might imagine, the car does quite well. The chassis on the brute is well sorted and in the hands of a good driver, the vehicle performs admirably. The car also has all-wheel drive, so there’s a lot of good things to see here. The car handles the corners well and rockets out of them like a bat out of hell.

The M8 Competition features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that creates 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Peak power comes on at 6,000 rpm and peak torque arrives between 1,800 and 5,600 rpm. With that kind of power, the car exits the corner with authority despite the fact that it weighs more than two tons.

Randy Pobst does his best and manages to do a lap time of one minute and 31.05 seconds, which certainly isn’t too shabby. You can check out the lap below.
