Photo Gallery from the Mar. 8, 2020, Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. George Follmer won the 1972 Can-Am championship in a Penske 917/10 now owned by Mouse Motors LLC. There was a sea of “Sunoco Blue” among the Cars of Roger Penske. Roger Penske poses with the Borg Warner trophy and a collection of cars from the many facets of his motorsport’s involvement. It is hard to even begin describing the styling of George Barris’ “Golden Sahara”. Originally built for Jim Skonzakes, it is owned by and was restored for Larry Klairmont. Alexandra & Dirk De Groen’s 1934 BMW 315/1 Sport is finished in its original factory color scheme. The lines and construction of Emily & Sam Mann’s 1932 Bugatti Type 49 Labourette Roadster reflect the original owner’s position as commodore of a yacht club. In 1951 GM brought forth a “Dream Car” called La Sabre styled by Harley Earl. At Amelia Island an impeccably dress model complemented the car’s lines. Mercedes brought five of its most historic racecars from its collection to wow show goers. Cars, participants, volunteers and spectators all crowded the show field under brilliant Florida sunshine.
