Launched at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the Senna is the third in McLaren’s Ultimate Series, following the F1 and P1. It is named after legendary Formula 1 Champion Ayrton Senna, who secured 35 Grand Prix wins and three World Championships with McLaren.
McLaren focused on maximizing track performance, making the Senna its most extreme road-legal car to date, thanks to radical aerodynamics. Unlike the hybrid P1, the Senna relies solely on a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the 720S, producing 789bhp. This power, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allows the Senna to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph).
The emphasis on weight reduction led to the exclusion of an electric motor, resulting in a dry weight of just 1,198 kg, primarily using carbon fiber. The car’s advanced aerodynamics, including a large twin-element rear wing and front bumper winglets, generate 800 kg of downforce at 249 km/h (155 mph), enhancing its track capabilities.
