2006 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 Versace Edition
September 28th, Paris, France – Bringing the flair of the Milan’s Fashion Week to the Paris Motor Show, Lamborghini released a special edition of their flagship LP640. It’s the work of Versace and sports particular appointments which are only possible with this type of collaboration.
Built in a tiny series of just ten cars, the Versace LP640 is more a plug for Lamborghini in Milan and Versace in Paris than an actual attempt at a meaningful model. Upgrades are limited to interior fittings, custom luggage and styling touches.
Immediately noticeable is the monochromatic color scheme which limits the available exterior paint options to just Isis White or Aldebaran Black. The theme is continued through to the interior with high-contrast black and white seats.
Inside, most of the upholstery uses Versace’s signature Greek Fret pattern. It’s applied to numerous panels as well as the seat backs and bottoms. For the visually and fashion impaired, the Greek Fret motif can also be ordered to run along the outside of the doors near the sill.
To help motivate the wife, each Versace LP640 comes with a custom fitted luggage set built to the exacting standards that of the Couture Limited Edition name. These bags, made for both him and her, include with the serial number and owner’s names included on the label and on a palladium-finished brass insert. A pair of calfskin driving shoes and gloves are also provided.
Many options from the personalization program can be ordered, but some, like the specially-designed black Herma wheels remain exclusive to the Versace edition. As an example, the Paris show car, chassis 01/10, is fitted with Lamborghini’s new car fiber trim kit, automatic gearbox and transparent engine hood.
When launched at Paris, Lamborghini made the scene with two runway models decked out in the newest Versace threads. Surely if the Lamborghini’s trim package didn’t excite, the commotion of these risque ladies had many looking twice.
