October 29th, Las Vegas – American engineering has always been known for it’s large and brutish engines and this Venom Viper 800 takes maximum advantage of this philosophy. It has an engine punched out to nearly ten liters and gets a 585 CID upgrade good for 810 bhp and 810 ft lbs of torque.

Unlike Hennessey’s 1000 bhp Venoms, this one is normally aspirated, but can almost reach the same levels of performance: 0 – 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, top speed over 230 mph and a 1/4 mile time of 10.88 @ 136 mph with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.

These incredible figures are possible due to an extensive engine tuning program that takes Hennessey a little over twelve weeks to perform. From the crankshaft up, every aspect of the motor is reworked, resulting in something almost entirely new. Air enters through a cold air induction system to reported heads, gets compressed by new forged pistons and exits through a big bore custom header and exhaust system. At 5500 rpm, you can bet this swallows about five times the normal amount of fuel.

The process starts by boring out a new block that is sleeved. A Hennessey crank is then secured with new billet main bearing caps and attached to Manley Rods and forged pistons. The valvetrain is similarly redone with heavy duty valve springs, lifters and new throttle bodies.

Surprisingly, despite the immense power, the standard transmission is used and sends power through a beefier clutch to the rear Quaife LSD.

Completing the package, Hennessey upgrades the suspension with an adjustable KW Coil-Over suspension and a Brembro big brake kit. These are hidden behind custom three peice wheels measure 19 and 20 inches respectively.

Also included on the bright yellow show car is Hennessey’s now signature Viper SRT Coupe body kit which includes a ‘VenomAero’ front bumper and rear ‘Daytona’ spoiler.

The Official debut of the 800R will take place on the Dupont stand at 10 am on Tuesday, October 31 at the SEMA Auto Show.
