2005 Hartge 645Ci 5.1
The Hartge 6 was first presented to the press and public last December, at the Essen Motorshow. Based in the BMW 645Ci, this is a radical supercar, in terms of both specification and styling.
Modifications start with the V8 engine which is pushed out to a displacement of 268.4 cu in (5100cc). The increased size is achieved with a new crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and Harrge’s own engine mototronics. The result is an output of 420 hp (313.2 kw) and an impressive torque of 384 lb-ft (520 nm).
Complenting the engine are chassis improvements that lower the car by about an inch, while specific springs and shock absorbers take care of cornering. Road adhesion is increased with newly designed 21 inch Hartge wheels wrapped in Continental or Pirelli tires measuring 255/30-21 and 295/25-21. A high-performance brakes finish up the chassis modifications and help stop the 1695 kg 645Ci even better.
Hartge developed a special body for 6 series called ‘model athletic’, sorry that was the best translation. Anyhow, a newly designed front spoiler, with integrated headlights and hugely enlarged kidney grilles personify the 5.1. At the rear, stainless steel rear mufflers offer a robust note and are finished with twin tail pipes on both sides.
High grade materials in leather and aluminium complete the interior. Other amenities include an aluminium handbrake handle, the aluminum/leather automatic gear lever, aluminum pedals and a leather sport steering wheel (optionally with carbon inlays). The interior concept of the 6 is completed with the Hartge 300 km/h speedometer, hinting at what is possible. And just what are the capabilities? A 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h.
