2005 Daihatsu UTE III Concept

11th October, 2005- Daihatsu is exhibiting nine prototype models (13 vehicles) and nine production models as well as spotlighting its engineering advances at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show. A highlight of the bunch is the UFE III, which is the most radical Daihatsu we have ever seen.

Earlier designs were shown at previous Tokyo Motor Shows in 2001 and 2003 and this is the third generation of the Ultra Fuel Economy (UFE). This hybrid concept achieves category-leading fuel consumption of 169mpg (72km/litre)!

This tremendous fuel economy is achieved with a drag coefficient of just 0.168, one of the world’s lowest, combined with an ultra-lightweight body and a hybrid system of three motors.
