2002 Brabus C V8 Sportscoupe
By implanting the new BRABUS V8 in the engine bay of the CL 203 model series, BRABUS created the C V8 Sports Coupe.Up until now the BRABUS 5.8 engine was the most powerful alternative for owners of a Mercedes with current three-valve V8. The new BRABUS 6.1 increased-displacement engine establishes a new standard. The displacement increase to 6,034 ccm is the result of a longer-stroke custom crankshaft milled from one piece, and enlarged cylinder bore. In addition the compression ratio increases to 11.0 : 1 due to the use of custom BRABUS pistons.
Emphasis in the BRABUS engine modifications was also put on the two cylinder heads: Larger intake and outlet valves driven by a custom camshaft improve the mixture flow rate. Intake and exhaust ports are optimized for best aerodynamic properties.
In light of this enormous performance potential, suspension, brakes and aerodynamics were modified accordingly. Power transfer to the rear wheels is handled by a modified five-speed automatic gearbox and a custom rear wheel-drive assembly. The suspension of the eight-cylinder sports coupe was developed in close cooperation with SACHS Race Engineering, taking into account the altered weight distribution.
The sporty-looking BRABUS front spoiler, manufactured from PUR-Rim in OEM quality, minimizes lift on the front axle and improves directional stability at high speeds. The BRABUS rear apron features a cutout for the two tailpipes of the stainless steel BRABUS sport exhaust system.
The BRABUS automobile also offers exclusive individuality in the interior: The list of interior options includes an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel with airbag, aluminum foot pedals and shift levers, chrome doorsills, high-quality floormats with BRABUS logo, and even a fully leather interior made from BRABUS mastik leather.
The BRABUS C V8 Sports Coupe will be built in an exclusive small-series production run starting in fall of 2001.
