2001 Mazda RX-7 Type R Bathurst
Mazda Motor Corporation announces the launch of the Type R Bathurst, a special version of the rotary-powered RX-7 sports car. Equipped with custom height-adjustable dampers, the Type R Bathurst goes on sale today at Mazda Anfini and selected Mazda dealerships throughout Japan.
The RX-7 has a particularly distinctive design, brimming with originality. Its lightweight, compact, high-output rotary engine allows it to raise responsive handling and performance to an exceptionally high level. The RX-7 is a sports car that exemplifies the Mazda spirit.
The new special edition Type R Bathurst is based on the Type R, the RX-7 with the lightest power-weight ratio. It is equipped with custom height-adjustable dampers, a popular feature of the Type R Bathurst R, a limited edition model released this August, to enhance driving excitement. The Type R Bathurst is also fitted with special fog lamps. Five body colors are available to choose from: Innocent Blue Mica, Pure White, Brilliant Black, Vintage Red, and Sunlight Silver Metallic.
-The name Bathurst was chosen to commemorate the Bathurst 12-hour car race in Australia, where the RX-7 was victorious for three consecutive years (1992 through 1994).
-Adjustments can be made by the dealer at the customer’s request.
