2001 Mazda MX-5 MPS Concept
Mazda hope to strengthen their brand image with the release of the special MX-5 MPS roadster. MPS stands for Mazda Performance Series, an upgrade which may be an option on upcoming production MX-5s. The MPS features numerous performance, functional & design enhancements. Mazda turned to it’s affiliate Mazda Speed to include racing technology in the MPS line. Mazda Speed is the same company that took the rotary 787B to victory at LeMans in 1991.
The tuned 1930cc engine now produces 200HP (147kW) thanks to independant throttles and an agressive camshaft.
