The Shelby Cobra is arguably one of the world’s most famous and recognizable sports cars in history. Today’s CSX 4000 / CSX 6000 Series 427 S/C component vehicles from Shelby Automobiles, Inc. are everything the 1965 models were, and more. The authenticity of each vehicle is documented by Shelby CSX numbers and a manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) from Shelby Automobiles signed by Carroll Shelby himself. Improvements include a stronger steel frame and better alloys used in the components, plus better cooling and additional heat shielding to make these cars safer and more drivable without losing any of their original character. With 0-60 MPH under four seconds, and 12 second quarter mile performance, you’ll know exactly what it’s like to drive a true American legend. Auction Sales History

1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Continuation Series CSX6062 – did not sell for $550,000

Carroll Shelby proved the old axiom “don’t mess with success” by introducing the Continuation Series 289 and 427 Cobras, the latter an iconic example of which is offered here in classic Guardsman Blue with White Le Mans stripes. Serial number CSX6062 comes direct from an authorized Shelby dealer with a Shelby cast and built 427 CI side oiler equipped with medium riser heads, correct Weiand intake and single Holley 4-barrel, producing 550 HP on pump gas. Like all CS Cobras, the car features a fully modernized chassis with 4-wheel independent suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and rack & pinion steering, in this case cloaked in a fiberglass-composite body. Sold on the original MSO, this brand new 427 Cobra is documented with a copy of the original MSO, engine build sheet and dyno reports, all signed by Shelby, who also autographed the glove box.
