In 1966, at the Turin Motor Show, the world got its first look at the Maserati Ghibli, as a two-seat concept car. The sharp, angular bodylines were penned by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro, who at the time was working for Ghia. Like its stablemates the Mistral and Khamsin, the Ghibli was named after a powerful wind. Ghibli is Arabic for “hot air blowing in from the Sahara.”
