In 1963, John Sprinzel contacted Chris Lawrence of LawrenceTune to produce a new body that could be bolted onto a production chassis and make it more competitive. This followed the success of Lawerence tune’s ‘TOK 258’, the +4 Super Sports that won its class at the 1962 Le Mans. As a result, three alloy bodied +4 Coupes were made and named after their creators Sprinzel & LawrenceTune.

Charlie Williams and Len Pritchard of W&P crafted the bodies and made four in total. One was fitted into a Triumph TR4 chassis for Neil Dangerfield and the rest on Morgan +4 chassis.

John Sprinzel recounts the performance “Of course, by this time, any competition car with a heavy, production-based separate chassis was going to be at a disadvantage, but Chris Lawrence made some good showings with his car (also registered TOK 258), including an outing to Spa when he managed to split the works Porsche 904GTSs, finishing with only two in front of him and four behind.”
