The sixth-generation letter car was the 300F which benefited from unit-body construction and a new Wedge engine and the largest rear fins in the series.

The V8 used a huge cross-ram intake manifolds that ran from the inside of each cylinder head across to the fender well. This placed the carburetors and air filters at the very edge of the engine bay. The long intake tracts helped with a lower engine form factor and increased low-rpm response.

From the exterior, the 300F was completely restyled compared to the preceding 300E. New to the car was cross-hatch grill that placed the 300F logo front and center. The prominent tail fins started at the mid-way through the doors and extended higher than any previous letter series cars.

Inside, four bucket seats trimmed in leather were split by a full length console that ran the extent of the interior.

Chrysler produced 1,217 300Fs in 1960 of which around 250 were built as convertibles. 15 cars, known as the Special GT used a more powerful 400 bhp engine with a 4-speed manual.

Optional extras included air conditioning, Music Maker or Touch Tuner radio, power antenna, remote-adjustable rear-view mirror, push-button “conditionaire” heater, 6-way power seats and tinted glass.
