1957 Pontiac Star Chief
Pontiac came under new management in 1957 when Semon “Bunkie” Knudsen, son of former General Motors president Bill Knudsen, was moved from the Detroit Diesel Engine Division to take control. Knudsen’s effect was felt immediately when he declared new Pontiacs would appeal to a younger crowd. The ’57 Star Chief was already restyled, but Knudsen ordered changes to the appearance that hinted at the future.
