Like all 8Cs, this car, 412035, is unique in subtle but interesting ways. The hood louvers extend back-wards into the scuttle, the rear wheel spats are not circular and the front wings extend further back than other Berlinettas. The car was first registered to the chemical/mining company Societa Anonima Montecatini and two years after the war it was bought by Frank Gris-wold and exported to the United States.

In 1948 he entered the car in the first race at Watkins Glen and despite stiff competition from Briggs Cunningham in his Bu-Merc special, Frank managed to win the race in the ten year old Alfa. Afterwards the car passed among several American owners including Alfa Romeo collector David Co-en, who drove the car until 2005 when it was acquired by Jon Shirley and restored by Dennison International. Over the last ten years this Alfa Romeo has won six Best of Show awards including Pebble Beach in 2008.
