The Italian economy continued to suffer along with most of Europe. Once again the larger cars began to depart at 8 a.m. and early action involved cars of the 1100 cc class.The favored Maseratis found themselves challenged by the upstart 3-car team of British M.G. K3 Magnettes who were personally invited by the King of Italy and Mussolini to enter an official team. The K-series represented MG’s mid-size car, featuring a modified inline-6 borrowed from Woseley’s Hornet.
