Lamborghini 350 GTS
Building on the 350 GT which was launched in 1964, Lamborghini then had two roadster variants made up by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera for show duty. Unfortunately Lamborghini never went into production of a roadster, and held out until the 1990s with the Diablo Roadster.
Chassis numbers 0325 and 0328 were built up as the 350 GTS and both were displayed at the 1965 Turin Show Car.
0328 was painted Nero Acrilico black with dark green leather interior and came equipped with a factory hardtop. It was first sold in Madrid, Spain and lived there for several years with white bodywork. Later it was eventually resprayed red and sold to Qatar Prince Althani in the mid-eighties who commissioned a factory restoration.
The other car 0325 was shown on the Touring stand at the 1965 Turin Motor Show in Mocciola Metallizzato Nitro gold over Testa di Moro interior. It was delivered this way to Kaplan in New York, USA on March 30, 1966. Later it was with Al Burtoni in Calfornia, USA for considerable time with the plates ‘GTS350’ and with cream-painted bodywork.
In recent time it was sold to Swiss collector Albert Spiess who had it restored by the factory with input from Valentino Balboni back to its original light brown paint over dark brown interior. The result was completed just in time for the Lamborghini 50° Anniversario – Grande Giro and 2013 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este shortly afterward.
