2009 BMW M5 CSL
Built to celebrate 25 years of the M5, this CSL model is a one-of that mimics the CSL racecars of BMW’s past. Highlights include a larger 5.5-liter engine and an extensive weight reduction program.
Power from the stroked engine raises the stock 407 bhp to around 580. To keep up with the larger engine a found-mounted engine cooler is fitted and red through an opening where the license plate would be. Futhermore, BMW’s M Division made a custom carbon fiber intake plenium.
The larger engine sends power to the rear wheels through a double-clutch transmission from the M3. This Getrag unit was substantially modified to accept the 400 lb ft of torque.
To reduce weight the to 1830kg, the M5 was fitted with a carbon fiber roof and a stripped down interior.
